DENVER – The Denver Nuggets secured veteran winger Brin Forbes of the San Antonio Spurs in a three-team exchange with the Boston Celtics.

The Nuggets sent the injured Bol Bol and PJ Dozier to the Celtics while the Spurs welcomed Juancho Hernangomez from the Massachusetts roster.

The Spurs will also receive the second round of the Nuggets.

At Forbes, the Nuggets get a good peripheral shooter.

The team would also be interested in DeMarcus Cousins’s services to help NBA Defender MVP Nikola Jokic lead Denver to the playoffs.

From the Celtics’ point of view, we are approaching the point where we would avoid the luxury tax this season.

The Nuggets were looking for side reinforcement with injuries to Jamal Murray and Michael Porter. Forbes has a 41.7% completion rate for three-pointers this season. He averaged 9.1 points.

Forbes has always been a long-distance threat.

He is ranked third in the last four years in field goal percentage among players who have attempted more than 1,000 three-point shots (after Joe Harris and Seth Curry).

Forbes was a member of the Milwaukee Bucks when they won the NBA last season.

Bol had been traded to the Pistons recently, but the deal was canceled after the 7-foot-two failed to undergo the necessary medical examinations.

The Nuggets announced on Tuesday that Ball underwent surgery on his right leg and will be out of action indefinitely.

Dozier ended up in the injured Celtics reserve due to rupture of the anterior right cruciate ligament.

Hernangomez has made just 18 appearances for the Celtics this season.

The Spaniard was selected by the Nuggets in the first round of 2016.
