Benfica Coach Marco Silva Demands Transfers Ahead of Aarhus

Benfica head coach Marco Silva has called on his players to make supporters proud ahead of their Europa League play-off match against Aarhus on Wednesday.

Speaking ahead of the first-leg tie to reach the competition's league phase, Silva acknowledged that the match against the Danish champions will present significant difficulties for his team.

Silva highlighted that Aarhus is a step ahead of Benfica's previous two opponents, warning that their attacking players possess high quality and demanding that Benfica perform at their best level.

He added that the squad must deliver a performance to make the fans proud, regardless of whether supporters want to see player A, B or C in the team.

Midfield boost and team fitness

Benfica will welcome back Fredrik Aursnes for the European fixture, with Silva highlighting the Norwegian midfielder's improving physical condition and tactical versatility.

Silva described Aursnes as an intelligent player who will offer different tactical options to the squad and remain a crucial figure for Benfica throughout the season.

The manager also addressed the physical condition of right-back Alexander Bah, noting that the defender has been building a strong connection with winger Rafa on the right flank.

Transfer market and defensive arrivals

On the transfer front, Benfica have completed the signing of 22-year-old Australian central defender Alessandro Circati from Italian club Parma as a replacement for António Silva.

Silva praised Circati as a talented young leader who fits the profile the club is seeking, noting that his recent international experience at the World Cup gives the coaching staff confidence.

The manager explained that Circati will be given time to adapt to a new country and step up to the demands of a larger club.

Despite Circati's arrival, Silva declared that Benfica's squad is not yet closed and pressed for urgent action to bring in further reinforcements.

Squad turnover and potential departures

Silva admitted it is difficult to guarantee that no more players will leave before the transfer window closes, confirming that roster changes remain ongoing.

Specifically, the head coach confirmed that defender Amar Dedic's departure from the Lisbon club is now at a very advanced stage.

Following a recent sequence of draw results for Benfica, Silva is also insisting on securing the transfer of Portuguese midfielder João Palhinha to reinforce the squad.
