FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Spanish forward Ferran Torres, Spanish media reported on Thursday.
The transfer fee for the 26-year-old attacker is expected to be nearly 50 million euros, or around 57 million dollars. Torres is set to sign a five-year contract with the French champions once the transaction is completed.
According to reports in Spain, only final legal and bureaucratic details, as well as a medical examination, remain to be finalized before the official announcement of the transfer is made.
The move comes after days of intense speculation surrounding the player's future. A source close to the operation told Agence France-Presse that Barcelona had previously rejected an opening offer of 40 million euros on Monday.
Torres had one year remaining on his contract with Barcelona. He arrived at the Catalan club in 2021 from English Premier League side Manchester City for a fee in excess of 55 million euros.
Attacking impact and transfer figures
Over the past two seasons, Torres has been a primary offensive weapon for Barcelona, scoring 40 goals in 94 appearances in all competitions.
His departure marks a significant loss for Barcelona's attacking options, coming alongside the exit of Polish international striker Robert Lewandowski.
