The most controversial decisions of the judges in the UFC are starting to get annoying. And the fact that they often follow after the battles of the Russians leads to certain thoughts. December 11 in Las Vegas, Russian Magomed Ankalaev in the fight for the vacant light heavyweight title indisputably surpassed Jan Blachowicz of Poland. However, the judges in some unknown way saw this fight as a draw.

The frankly shameful decision outraged not only Magomed. Already in the cage, the verdict of the judges was condemned even by the Pole himself!

Perhaps the opinion that the Russians should not bring fights to the decision of the judges in American promotions should take root in the minds of our athletes after the Ankalaev-Blachowicz fight even more thoroughly. If the first round in this fight looked fairly equal, and the second round was definitely taken by the Polish fighter, then starting from the third five-minute period, the Russian began to take the initiative in the duel. In the final two “championship” rounds, his advantage was indisputable.

Many fans remember the famous fight between former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes, in which the last two rounds were enough for Bones to win by and large. Remembering that strange decision of the judges, the current verdict in the fight between Ankalaev and Blachowicz looks rather surreal.

Magomed definitely took three rounds in this fight. But he interrupted his opponent in accurate hits and did in four. Only in the second five-minute period Blachowicz delivered more accented shots. The judges frankly drew a draw, but given their “amazing” work in the past, apparently, one can be thankful for not seeing the victory of the Polish fighter…

Which, by the way, proved to be very worthy not only as a fighter, but also as a person. A few seconds before the announcement of the verdict, the ring announcer Blachowicz pointed to Ankalaev, making it clear that he considered the Russian to be the winner of the fight. However, the judge raised the hands of both athletes, which caused confusion not only for Magomed. The Polish fighter even interrupted the interview with the Russian in the cage, saying that the belt should have gone to his opponent.

Against the background of the current political situation, the act of the Polish athlete looks doubly courageous. As a rule, after controversial victories, most fighters get off with routine phrases and do not subject their “triumph” to any doubt. However, Jan Blachowicz showed himself to be a noble warrior, able to admit defeat even when formally he had no reasons for this.
