Follow the preliminary fights of the UFC 272 gala with Covington and Masvidal in the final on RDS and Sportish from 8 p.m.
Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal stuck to the limit at the official weigh-in on Friday, ahead of their bout that will cap off the UFC 272 card on Saturday in Las Vegas.
They both posted a weight of 170.5 pounds.
The two former friends and teammates met during the ceremonial face-to-face in the evening in front of an audience. A bit like Thursday at the last press briefing involving them, we could expect a lot of tension between the two. There was no jostling, but the insults were flying everywhere, hardly worth repeating. Masvidal notably called Covington a charlatan and then the latter replied this:
“Tonight Judas is having his last meal. Tomorrow, I’m going to send him to the electric chair and electrify the T-Mobile Arena like never before. »
Everything also went well at the weigh-in for the semi-final side of the evening, with Rafael dos Anjos and last-minute substitute Renato Moicano.
Former NFL player Greg Hardy was the last to hit the scales, posting the agreed-upon maximum weight at heavyweight at 266 pounds. His opponent was almost 22.5 pounds lighter.
The other 20 fighters also respected the limit.
