The UFC announced Saturday during UFC 272 that Khabib Nurmagomedov (29-0) will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame next July.

Nurmagomedov is a former lightweight world champion who went undefeated during his UFC career.

He is considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the history of the sport. He won his first title in 2018 after nine straight wins to launch his career with the organization, debuting in 2012.

He won the vacant title by defeating Al Iaquinta at UFC 223, before successfully defending his title against Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje.

In October 2020, a few months after the death of his father Abdulmanap, he announced his retirement from mixed martial arts. Dana White acknowledged his retirement in March 2021.

Nurmagomedov is still involved in the UFC, most notably in his cousin Umar Nurmagomedov’s corner.
