Fighters of Russia and the United States will finally be able to identify the strongest.
A few days ago, the world of sports was struck by the news: a match of Russian and American hockey players performing in the KHL and NHL, in the foreseeable future, could become a reality. Against the backdrop of attempts to cancel Russia in world sports, this, of course, became a sensation. It is likely that our athletes will get a chance to compete with the strongest not only in hockey – for 2025, a match meeting between Russia and the USA is planned in the fight.
Now our athletes are welcome guests behind the ocean.
Without restrictions
This week, the sports world learned about the plans approved at the highest level to organize hockey matches with the participation of Russian and American NHL and KHL players. Against the background of such a tectonic shift, after three years of attempts to cancel Russia on the world stage, it was reasonable to expect such initiatives in other sports. On Thursday, the professional wrestling league (PWL) announced the proposal of Russian and American fighters received from the Russian wrestling Federation (FSBR).
“Given the continuing contacts between the presidents of the Russian and the USA federations, both match meetings, both in the United States and in Russia, can be organized in 2025,” the PWL reported.
The initiative is beautiful – there is no doubt in the class of Russian wrestlers, Americans also often make noise in the world arena. It is worth recalling that at the 2022 World Cup, where the Russians were not even in neutral status, freaks from the United States took four gold and four silver medals, three gold, two silver and two bronze in women can be added to this. Later, Russians began to be allowed to international tournaments, but not for every tournament, and not all leaders. The idea of a match of Russia and the United States does not imply restrictions, so there will be a real chance to identify the strongest.
“Exciting for fighters”
The idea of holding match meetings of Russia and the United States is alive not only in the struggle. But only in the same figure skating there are doubts that the Americans who criticized our athletes not so long ago will be happy to accept the invitation to come to visit. It is not clear whether all the stars of the American voyage are ready to accept the call from rivals from Russia. But in the struggle to interest colleagues because of the ocean is not so difficult. On the eve of the titled American fighter Kyle Snyder, who took the gold of the Olympics and won the world championships three times, made it clear that he was enthusiastically waiting for a meeting with the Russians.
– I like this idea. I hope we will be able to hold one steam meeting in the United States and one in Russia. This is very exciting for fans and wrestlers. I am especially glad to compete in this format, ”Odds.ru quotes Snider.
It could be assumed that the opinion of Snider does not reflect the mood of the rest of the American wrestlers. Kyle does not hide friendship with Abdulrashid Sadulaev, often calls up with him and even somehow stayed with his opponent. But other wrestlers from the US team are alien to Russophobia. On the eve of the 2024 Olympics, according to the words of three -time world champion Zaurbek Sidakov, American athletes wrote letters asking for Russians. In the end, the letters did not affect anything, but the American wrestlers, apparently, will soon have the opportunity to meet our athletes on the carpet.
