Timur Arbuzov went to the Judo World Championship in the status of the current European champion. However, this did not guarantee anything – competition in the category of up to 81 kg is the highest, to take a medal of any dignity a great achievement. Our athlete completed the maximum task, understanding the final with a three-time world champion.

From June 13 to 20, the World Judo Championship is held in Hungary. As a year earlier, Russian athletes take part in it, but, unfortunately, again without national symbols. On the way to the final, Timur defeated rivals from Benin, the Dominican Republic, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan. Having dealt with the winners of the continental tournaments of Africa and Asia, Arbuzov met face to face with the Vice-Champion Olympiad-2024 and the four-time world champion Tato Grigalashvili from Georgia.

In 2024, it was Grigalashvili who left the Russian without gold in the final of the World Cup. However, at the European Championship-2025 in Montenegro, our judoka took a revenge. The next fight lasted a very long time, could end with any outcome, but ended in the end of Timur’s victory, who found the opportunity to throw an opponent at Ippon.
