Former Terek Grozny midfielder Mauricio spoke about the strict working methods of Stanislav Cherchesov, noting that he liked to train under the guidance of Rashid Rakhimov more.
Mauricio played in Russia for Terek (now Akhmat), Zenit St. Petersburg, and in September signed a contract with Rodina, playing in MELBET First League.
The Brazilian called Rakhimov the best coach in his career, and also noted that Cherchesov and Andre Villas-Boas shared the second or third places.
– All my life I played in the position of ten. Until the moment when Cherchesov headed Terek. He immediately indicated: I will no longer play the top ten.
I tried to calm down, but the situation was driving me crazy. After one of the training sessions, I could not stand it and went to talk to him: “I want to play in my position. Please!” Cherchesov immediately replied: “No, guy. You will play where I tell you. Everything here is just the way I want!” Then, of course, I was shocked by this. And over time, I realized: thanks to the work with Cherchesov, my game became better. Thanks to him, I learned to play in several positions,” Mauricio told Sport24.
According to him, “Cherchesov is a“ bad guy ”, and Villas-Boash is a“ good one ”.
— Cherchesov is very strict and serious. You can’t afford too much for him. You smile a little, and he immediately: “Quiet. We are working.”
But I have learned a lot. First of all, discipline, including on the field. When I was young, I tried to keep up in every part of the field, because of which I often lost zones. Cherchesov taught me to feel the moment and take the right position,” said Mauricio.
The football player recalled that “Rakhimov understood football very clearly, and his training was super, but he was often angry with the players.”
– Rakhimov only eventually began to understand the players, and the players – him. The result began to improve, and everything was fine. Learned a lot from him. He always believed in me,” said the Brazilian.
