Former footballer of “Zenith” Sergey Vedeneev shared his expectations from the Russian Cup match between Fakel and Zenit.
It seems to me that now all matches are under the mark whether Zenit will score at the start of the match or not. And the further move depends on this: either they besiege the gate and the opponent fights to the end, or they score and then score again and again … Because the difference in the class of players is very large. Everyone wants some kind of resistance, as Akhmat showed, but exactly the opposite happened there … But such moments happen once every few years.
Fakel has matches in which the team plays with enthusiasm and, thanks to the support of the stands, they succeed. But such teams cannot play two or three games permanently. Skill is not enough, there are many young players, teamwork suffers. They tune in to the leader, of course, but something doesn’t quite work out that often.
Can we expect something sparkling from the Brazilians of Zenit? Experiments with the composition have already been several times. The last example is with Chistyakov. Before that – with Mostov. And at the beginning of the season they released Sutormin, Erokhin. Now they don’t come out at all, because the coaches are convinced that without playing practice the players cannot achieve results. And if in past years there was a forced rotation, when the team played on several fronts, the players had a large workload, everyone had some sort of playing practice. Now this is not. And now Semak and his assistants are probably suffering, thinking about what to do, how to be. And, most likely, the main team will come out in Voronezh.
