“I am against the departure of Russians to Europe, but there are no reasons for the RFU to move to Asia” – Nepomniachtchi

Former Tom head coach Valery Nepomniachtchi admitted to Metaratings.ru that he opposes the departure of Russian players to the European championships, and also does not support the possible transfer of the RFU to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

– Should Russian players strive to play in serious European championships while the RPL is out of European competition?

– I have said before that I am always very sorry when young strong players leave us, including Sasha Golovin at Monaco and Lesha Miranchuk at Atalanta. Lokomotiv failed so well after the departure of its leader. I am very sorry when we lose those whom we could admire with us. No, I am against our players moving to Europe.

– Are you against the idea of moving to AFC?

— Yes, I think it is inappropriate for many reasons. If we go to play, then play with whom? After all, we want to play against teams that correspond to our level – against South Korea, Japan, the countries of the Middle East. I’m not sure that the Japanese and Koreans will want to play with us, and the countries of Central Asia are ready to play with us anyway.

If we transfer to earn money, then you will not earn anything in AFC. I myself worked for four years in South Korea, in China, in Japan. I know that many clubs don’t want to qualify for the Champions League, because there is nothing but losses. The prize fund of the tournament does not beat off long-distance flights. And even more so from Russia. Time zone difference – play one match and then lose a week. In general, there is no reason to switch.

At the end of February 2022, FIFA and UEFA suspended Russian teams and clubs from participating in international tournaments due to the situation in Ukraine. The RFU considered the possibility of moving to the AFC, but it was decided to create a working group with the participation of representatives of UEFA and FIFA, which will discuss in more detail the prospects for Russian football. On February 1, 2023, the AFC Congress was held in Manama (Bahrain), where the head of the RFU, Alexander Dyukov, was present.

The Russian football season will resume on February 22 with FONBET Russian Cup matches. On March 3, the WORLD RPL draw will continue. Watch live broadcasts of RPL matches and the Cup of the country on the Match TV federal channel and the thematic channels of the holding, as well as on matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru websites.

It’s a huge loss. The star of the Ukrainian national team will undergo surgery

Roma’s Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbik According to Il Tempo, he will have to undergo surgery.

It turned out that the injury the 28-year-old striker received in the match against Lecce in the 19th round of the Italian Serie A was more serious than expected. After new tests, Roma and the player decided to undergo surgery to remove the musculotendinous lesion on the left thigh.

Therefore, Dovbik will probably not be able to help the Ukrainian national team in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The striker is unlikely to recover for the match against the Swedish national team on March 26.

Dovbik was injured in the match between Lecce and Roma in the 19th round of Serie A on January 6. Artem scored in the 71st minute, setting the final score of the match (2:0), and left the field due to injury in the 86th minute.

Artem played 13 matches for Wolves in the Italian Championship this season, scoring 3 goals and making 1 assist.

All players of the Ukrainian national team. Szabo chose Ukraine’s best football players

Former coach of the Ukrainian national team Jozsef Szabo Meta.ua has exclusively chosen the version of the three best Ukrainian football players of this season for its website.

“In the first row, Ilya Zabarny is almost out of the competition,” Sabo said. – As far as I remember, there has been no regression in the game yet. Yes, the defender had unimpressive tackles, but these were isolated cases. But he’s only 23 years old. The contract with Paris Saint-Germain shows that this football player is currently one of the best in Europe. And do not forget that at that age he played 55 matches for the Ukrainian national team.

I will give second place to Ruslan Malinovsky, who seems to have found a second youth after being injured. This guy’s head is clear, making great passes is not difficult for a midfielder. Largely thanks to Malinovsky’s effective play, the Ukrainian national team managed to qualify for the play-offs in the 2026 World Cup qualifying tournament.

The third will be Everton’s left back Vitaly Mikolenko. He is a consistent starter for his team. And no matter what position the team is in, the English league is still the strongest league in Europe. He is an irreplaceable football player in the national team.
