In England, the goals of all Russian football players were “cancelled”. What a vile act!

Why not review the results of the matches then?

Another attack of Russophobia happened to the functionaries of the English Premier League. They decided to delete from the history the achievements of Russian football players, who at one time showed themselves perfectly in the top clubs in England.

Their goals were simply cancelled.

The glorious history of the Russians in the Premier League

Far behind are the days when Russian footballers played en masse in the clubs of the English Premier League. The last mass arrival of our players to Foggy Albion happened after Russia’s success at the 2008 European Championship. Then many of the leaders of the national team were sold out by the best teams in England.

Zhirkov, Arshavin, Pavlyuchenko, Bilyaletdinov, who shone at Euro 2008, as well as Pogrebnyak, who joined them, delighted Russian fans with performances on English fields for several seasons.

Arshavin, Pavlyuchenko and Pogrebnyak became true goalscorers in England. Andrey’s poker against Liverpool at Anfield was discussed without exaggeration by the whole world. Merseysiders will remember this rainy day for a long time. Roman also had enough of beautiful goals in England, and Pavel became the first Russian to score in his debut game in the Premier League.

“Doesn’t evoke any emotion”

But the English Premier League decided to finally get rid of everything Russian. Not only did the league last year, in violation of all legal norms, refuse to broadcast matches to Russian broadcasters in Russia, but a video appeared on the official YouTube channel of the Premier League a few days ago, clearly intended to hurt the Russians to the quick.

The video featured goals scored by players from 103 countries. The only state for which an exception was made, as you might guess, was Russia. After a goal from Romanian Dan Petrescu, a ball from the small Caribbean country of St. Kitts and Nevis, Bobby Brown, followed. At the same time, representatives of the Premier League did not want to know the opinion of the audience about such a selection. Comments on the video have been disabled.

Possible candidates from Russia to get into this video, however, were not greatly affected by the decision of the representatives of the Premier League. Arshavin and Pogrebnyak, in an interview with Match TV, took this quite philosophically.

If you hadn’t told me, I wouldn’t have known about it. I don’t care at all, it doesn’t cause any emotions, ”Arshavin said.

“It’s okay, people will look on the Internet,” Pogrebnyak offered an interesting alternative.

The decision not to include Russian goals in the video is reminiscent of insanity and an attempt to rewrite history. The cancellation of the achievements of Russian football players looks like another despicable act that does not make much sense or idea. With such zeal, one can think about revising the results of matches and tournaments with the participation of Russian football players. Surely Liverpool fans would rather forget Arshavin’s poker in 2009. Yes, and the results of the legendary tour of the Moscow “Dynamo” in the UK in 1945 can also be reviewed. Why not?

Now even the most unthinkable scenarios for the manifestation of Russophobia are quickly being transformed into an urgent agenda. And hardly anyone is still surprised by this.

Former coach of the Cameroon national team Valery Nepomnyashchiy hopes for the victory of the Moroccan team in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The national teams of Morocco and Senegal will play the final of the tournament, which will be held on January 18. For the first time since 2004, the Moroccans have reached the decisive stage of the competition. Then they lost to the Tunisian team with the score of 1:2. In 1976, the Moroccan team won the tournament.

“I wish the Moroccan team would finally win the Africa Cup of Nations,” Nepomniachtchi said. — African and European football, of course, cannot be compared, but I can say that African football is interesting. There’s still a lot of enthusiasm there. I think that’s what’s attractive.

The Senegalese have reached the final in three of the last four editions of the competition: in 2019 they lost in the title match against the Algerians (0:1), and in 2022 they defeated the Egyptians (0:0, 4:2 on penalties). In 2024, the Senegal team lost to the future winner of the tournament, the Ivory Coast team, in the round of 16 (1:1, 4:5 on penalties).

The Africa Cup of Nations takes place in Morocco.

OFFICIALLY. Nottingham remove Zinchenko from team’s Europa League bid

English “Nottingham Forrest” decided to exclude the defender of the Ukrainian national team Alexandra Zinchenko From the team’s application for the 2025/26 Europa League season.

Information about this was published on the official UEFA website. The 29-year-old football player’s place in the European cups was taken by Nigerian national team player Ola Aina, who played only seven matches this season due to injuries.

Zinchenko’s contract belongs to Arsenal and expires in June 2026. In September 2025, the Ukrainian defender joined Nottingham on loan and has already worked under the guidance of three different coaches.

The Ukrainian has played ten matches without scoring a goal in all competitions this season. Nottingham did not provide an official reason for the Ukraine national team defender’s exclusion from the Europa League.

Nottingham ranked 11th in the Europa League with 11 points after six weeks. Sean Dyche’s men will have to play two matches on the main stage against Portuguese Braga (January 22) and Hungary’s Ferencvaros (January 29).

Dziuba believes that basketball player Demin plays well in the NBA

Russian defender from Brooklyn Egor Demin looks good in the National Basketball Association (NBA). This opinion was expressed by a footballer from Togliatti “Akron” Artem Dzyuba.

“I’ve been following the Los Angeles Lakers since Kobe Bryant. I’m following Demin. I really like him,” he said. — It’s clear that Brooklyn is not the strongest team, but they look very good. I think he’s a great guy.

Brooklyn announced the signing of a contract with Demin in July 2025. In June the club selected the Russian in the draft NBA number eight overall. He became the best-drafted Russian player in the history of the league. This season, Demin played 34 games for Brooklyn, averaging 10.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.

Demin is 19 years old, previously played for teams of different ages of the Spanish Real Madrid, and after the 2023/24 season he decided to move to USAaccepting the invitation of the Brigham Young University team. In the 2024-25 season, he averaged 10.6 points, 5.5 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game.
