Wings of the Soviets goalkeeper Ivan Lomaev said that he came to football largely because of CSKA goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev.

I wanted to become either a goalkeeper because of Akinfeev, or a midfielder because of Arshavin. But when I came to the first training session, I was one of the tallest in my group – and immediately got into the goal.
Akinfeev is a legend, in a word. A person who has been playing since the age of 16 is an incredible achievement.
– How does Akinfeev stand out for you?
– I would have noted his anticipation very strongly. This is the vision of the game. He coolly reads the moments, sees them in advance. Perhaps this is a given, and comes with experience.
Calmness, composure, the ability to make decisions in emergency situations and, of course, the choice of position.
But it is stupid to compare me with Akinfeev – who am I and who is he. Super titled footballer, legend, lump.
Which goalkeeper do you look up to?
– When I first started, it was Akinfeev, Casillas, Buffon. Then, when he grew up, to Sommer, Courtois. These are the best goalkeepers in the world now, ”the Match TV website quotes Lomaev as saying.
Ivan Lomaev is a graduate of the Chertanovo Academy. He has been playing for Wings of the Soviets since 2020.
