Promes was imprisoned for a year and a half, with more to come. We remember the players behind bars

Ahead of the verdict in the drug trafficking case.

Quincy Promes (Spartak)

Dutch sentenced to 18 months in prison for attacking his cousin with a knife. He was also acquitted of attempted murder, as expected. The defendant was given one and a half years. But that’s just the beginning. Promes is unlikely to be acquitted in a drug trafficking case. We are talking about the transport of two huge parties, but only one was intercepted. The people behind the trafficking are responsible for thousands of ruined lives. Promesu can’t hide from prison forever. Lawyers will drag out cases with appeals, but Quincy better prepare for a conclusion until they are placed on the international wanted list. The refusal to appear at the hearings has already conditioned the first verdict. In case of repentance and personal presence, he could get a little less. The decision to hide from the court is an aggravating circumstance.

Kokorin (Zenith) and Mamayev (Krasnodar)

Friends decided to “celebrate” the meeting. As a result, the driver of a man with connections was attacked. They also beat the officer. When the players RPL beat “mere mortals”, then they got away with it. Since there are camera recordings, we know that Kokorin’s brother is more responsible for conflicts than Alexander and Pavel. The lawyers insist that, since it was minor injuries, a conditional verdict was enough. But the case was turned into a demonstration. Kokorin and Mamayev spent some time in the colony. Alexander came out, played, became the champion of Cyprus. And Paul got divorced, that’s his victory.

Eduard Streltsov (Torpedo)

The strongest Russian player in history together with Yashin. Edward began his career at the age of sixteen, at nineteen he became an Olympic champion. And then this title meant more than half a century later. And then there was a scandal, where the ears of officials stick out again. Streltsov was accused of raping 20-year-old Marina Lebedeva. It is not yet clear whether the accident itself occurred. Maybe famous football players just drank too hard and walked in a country where officials didn’t get nice cars and trinkets from overseas trips. Banal envy could lead to a show trial of Streltsov. Eduard was 12, served five, but missed out on his golden years in football. Just compare the before and after photos to understand what even an easy camp could do to a person.

Yuri Sevidov (Spartak)

If Promes has a pure crime, then Sevidov was in prison partly for the same reason as Streltsov, Kokorin and Mamayev. An old man threw himself under the wheels of the footballer’s car. And then Yuri Alexandrovich was not lucky. His negligence while driving resulted in no injury to the man, who turned out to be Ryabchikov, a chemist and laureate of state prizes. Also, the grandfather was immediately taken to the hospital. And that’s where they killed. The doctor left, and the student injected the patient with a large dose of sedatives. Sevidov was made extreme, even though they could have been disenfranchised and punished more leniently. They gave him 9 years, he served 4, but the amnesty didn’t save his career. Spartak have lost a tough striker.

Maxim Molokoedov (Zenit)

Not only famous Russian club footballers ended up behind bars. Criminal elements often include athletes in their schemes. It’s scary to imagine how many Latin American players are linked to drug trafficking, because not only Higuita and Marquez have been accused of having links with drug traffickers. Again a story with a South American flavor, but in the lead role there is a boy from the Zenith Academy. Molokoedov’s career did not work out until his adventures in 2010. In the main club of St. Petersburg, as well as in others, he did not play. Mind enough to carry drugs. At an airport in Chile, he was caught with 6 kilograms of banned substances hidden in the covers of children’s books. The Chilean court handed down 3 years and 1 day in prison. Humanly enough, in Russia for such a game I would have received much more. In prison, Maxim played football, then played for one of the clubs in Chile. He returned home, but failed to develop a sports career.

Giorgio Demetradze (Alania)

Demetradze ended up in prison after performing in Russia. He served one and a half years out of six, even though he was accused of working for a thief. Demetradze, according to prosecutors, became a collector of bandits in an underground lottery. His experience is not prophylactic walks, like alcoholic Tony Adams, or bully Joey Barton, who served two months after a fight. Demetradze – the best sniper of the Russian championship in “Alania”, spent more than one night in a punishment cell. They didn’t beat him, but they pressed him psychologically. George invented a version of political persecution, but this is not true. Georgia is such a country of thieves that they did not ask Demetradze for an autograph, because “it’s not according to the rules.” It is good that the former Real Sociedad striker has found better employment following his imprisonment. George runs a football academy and has two sons.

Promes after his release from prison is also better to think about relatives and children, because he has four heirs. We do not exclude that in the second case Quincey will receive more years in prison, but will be released earlier for good behavior. And for Spartak, even the first verdict is a big blow. Abascal urgently needs a new foreman. And the player has no one to blame. You can’t hit people with a knife. You cannot be involved in transporting 1.4 tons of drugs.

Serious business. In the second case, Promes is, of course, just one of many defendants. The main organizers of drug trafficking are already in prison. Appeals can affect the length of imprisonment, but the fact of restriction of freedom will not be canceled. Instead of playing in the World Cup against Messi, and now in the Final Four of the League of Nations, the experienced striker will go to prison. Did rapper Quincy want to be a tough gangster? Promes has forgotten the fate of most of the bandits.

The former president of the Ukrainian Football Federation is wanted in Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has placed the former president of the Ukrainian Football Federation (UAF) on the wanted list. Andrei Pavelko. This comes from Ukrainian data Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the database, Pavelko is accused of two criminal articles: embezzlement, misappropriation of property or misappropriation of property through abuse of office, committed on a large scale or by an organized group, as well as official forgery.

On October 9, it became known that the former UAF president had been indicted on new charges. As clarified by the Strana publication, the investigation believes that Pavelko and a group of other Ukrainian football officials took possession of 9.32 million euros, which UAF received from the Union of European Football Associations (of UEFA) in 2015-2016.

Pavelko had previously been accused of carrying out bribery schemes during the construction of a plant to produce artificial turf for football pitches. In this case, the president of the association was arrested in November 2022, but managed to get bail. In June 2023 he was arrested again; only in February 2024 did he win the appeal and was released. In the same year, according to Ukrainian AveragePavelko traveled abroad, submitting a certificate of disability. Then “Strana” associated the persecution of Pavelko with the fact that Vladimir Zelensky was pressuring him to force him to hand over the position of president of the association to Ukrainian footballer Andrei Shevchenko, who eventually led the UAF in January 2024.

The RFU does not rule out Karpin merging the posts again

Russian Football Federation (RFU) does not rule out an agreement with the coach of the Russian national team Valery Karpin reconciling work in the national team and the club. The Secretary General spoke about it in an interview RFU Maxim Mitrofanov.

In November Karpin announced his departure from Dinamo Moscow; he had been working at the club since June. Later, in an interview with Rossiya 24 TV channel, he ruled out a future combination.

“Never say ‘never’, everything happens in life,” Mitrofanov said in response to the question of whether he agreed RFU once again combining Karpin. — Basic RFU against the combination of the work of the national team and club coaches. But during the period of exclusion from official competitions this combination is in some cases possible; several coaches, even at the helm of the national teams, combine their work with that of the club”.

“If we talk about the normal competitive period in which the federation and its team should exist, the combination is impossible, the coach and his staff must be completely focused on the team and solving the assigned tasks. We do not know whether Valery Georgievich will ever contact us again with the question of the combination. I don’t think he knows it either. But it seems to me that he himself has drawn important conclusions and expressed them. The combination places a greater burden on the football team. There, too, they must correctly evaluate their capabilities. When a coach is in the national team, objectively he cannot deal with club matters,” Mitrofanov added.

Previously, Karpin also combined work in the national team and Rostov, but left the club in February this year.
