The President of the Board of ANO FC Rubin, Marat Safiullin, expressed hope that the new head coach of the team, Frank Artiga, who trained Barcelona striker Lamin Yamal, will reveal new names among the students of the Kazan club’s academy.
Rubin announced the appointment of the 49-year-old Spaniard on Wednesday.
— Frank Artiga is a high-quality specialist who already has experience working in Russia. Its teams play vibrant and spectacular football, which attracts spectators and fans. FC Rubin hopes with the new coach that our team will show football that will attract even more fans to the home stadium.
Frank worked for a long time at the Barcelona academy with children’s and youth teams, raising many world football stars: such as Lamin Yamal, Dani Olmo, Marc Cucurella, Adama Traore and other talents. We hope that this experience will help the new coach in his work at Rubin to reveal new names among the students of our academy. I wish the new coach good luck and successfully cope with the big tasks that lie ahead of him,” the Rubin press service quotes Safiullin as saying.
Artiga’s last club was the Angolan Petru Athletic, which he left on January 10. Before that, he headed the Moscow region “Khimki” and the Moscow “Rodina”. From 2010 to 2021, Artiga worked in the academy of the Spanish Barcelona; in 11 years, the coach with teams of different ages won the youth championship 11 times.
