By the time an ambulance arrived on the scene, Sanchez was no longer breathing. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

For more than two weeks, doctors fought for his life, but they failed to save Misael. On July 25, the Oxnard Police Department announced the player’s death on its official website.

He has already been charged with a felony in connection with the beating that led to Sanchez’s death. But the prosecutor’s office returned the case for further investigation.
