Former Minister of Sports of Russia, ex-president of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Vitaly Mutko praised the work of Leonid Fedun as president and chairman of the board of directors of Spartak Moscow.
On Monday, August 22, Lukoil announced that it had acquired 100% of the club’s shares, as well as the Otkritie Bank Arena stadium. Fedun resigned as president, member and chairman of the board of directors of the Red-Whites in connection with his withdrawal from the club’s shareholders. He will not take part in the management of Spartak.
– Leonid Arnoldovich was infinitely devoted to Spartak. So many experiences, so many emotions. Did a lot of good things. Everyone wants a result at any cost, but he did a great job. And success requires several factors.
During Fedun’s time at Spartak, dozens of clubs in Russia went bankrupt, and Spartak has always been Spartak. He wanted a better result, but this is the way – there will always be mistakes. Fedun left a part of his heart and soul in the club. He didn’t quit Spartak. Lukoil is a serious company, – Mutko is quoted by Chempionat.
Fedun acquired a controlling stake in Spartak in 2004. With him, the team became the champion of Russia, the owner of the Cup and the Super Cup of the country.
