A historic triumph for Brentford at Chelsea headquarters, City returned to the top
Newly crowned Brentford celebrated a historic victory at Stamford Bridge after, despite being behind goal, they drew European champions Chelsea 4-1. City returned to the top, a point for Norwich from Giannouli and Tzoli.
Incredible yet true, sprung from the magical world of Premier League football. Chelsea took the lead with Readinger in the 48th minute in the mini-London derby, but Brentford responded with three goals in just 11 minutes, with Christian Eriksen’s team scoring in the final (and celebrating their first after a collective goal scored at the Euro 2020 had suffered ) with a deafening 4: 1 against the compatriot.
Comfortable passage for Manchester City from Turf Moor (2-0 v Burnley), which brought Liverpool to +1 before the top derby, away points for Norwich from Dimitris Giannoulis and Christos Tzolis against Brighton (0-0).
Storm Brentford equalized Chelsea
Brentford held modern football seminars in the second half of the away game against Chelsea and they made history in the final. Firstly because the 4-1 impressively sealed his first success against his compatriot since distant 1939 and secondly because it became only the second Premier League newcomer to score 3+ goals at Stamford Bridge after West Brom in April 2021 (2-5).
All the money in the game was the 48′ to 61′ period in which four goals were scored. The Blues opened the scoring with a shot from Rüdiger that left no room for a reaction to Raya, after which the Bees ‘bite’ three times, having Janelt (2 goals) and Ebeumo (2 assists) at the spearhead and with Christian Eriksen finding webs on a collective scale for the first time after suffering a heart attack last June.
Wissa’s goal in 87′ (had subbed a few minutes earlier) was just the icing on the cake of Brentford’s unthinkable triumph, which ‘locked’ his whereabouts with that success after escaping 11 points from danger.
CHELSEA: Medi, Athpilicueta, Readinger, Thiago Silva, Alonso (55′ James), Loftus-Chick, Cante (65′ Lukaku), Mount, Zigzag, Haverts, Werner (64′ Kovacic)

City returned to the top, with Norwich taking a point
In terms of the battle for the top, Liverpool managed to stay in contention for a short while after Manchester City’s convincing response shortly after the Reds’ 2-0 win over Watford, which temporarily put them at +2′. The champions weren’t in the mood for another gel and cleared it up early with De Bruyne (5′) and Guidogan (25′) thanking Sterling for his assists and making it 2-0 at Burnley, resulting in that they held up to the final without much difficulty. Thus, they meet Liverpool at the Etihad on April 10 and have a point more than Klopp’s team, with both teams having seven more games to play in addition to the derby between them.
BURLEY: Pope, Roberts, Long, Tarkovsky, Taylor, Cork (71′ Rodriguez), Westwood, Brownhill, Lennon, McNeill (46′ Corne), Weghorst (81′ Barnes)
MANCHESTER CITY: Anderson, Walker, Ake, Laport, Cancello, De Bruyne (78′ Bernardo Silva), Rodri, Guidogan, Sterling, Fontaine (64′ Jesούςs), Grillis
At the Amex Stadium, Norwich Tail clinched a point that allowed him to keep his – few – hopes of survival alive, with the Canaries holding up pressure from Brighton (the home side missed in the 29 ) and pulling a white tie. Dimitris Giannoulis was a key player for the first time after 11 December and looked good, while Christos Tzolis also came on in the 81st minute to count his first minutes of play after 15 January.
Brighton: Sanchez, Feltman, Dunk, Koukoureja, Gross, Lambeth, Trossar, McAllister, Marts (83′ Monter (88′ Sarmiento), Mope (79′ Emuepu), Welbeck
NORTH: Crowley, Bairam, Hanley, Gibson, Giannoulis, Norman, Gilmour, Les Melou (61′ Rowe), McLean (90′ Dowell), Pouki, Rasitsa (81′ Tzolis)
In the other two games of the afternoon, Wolves of Jose Sa (main game) and Daniel Pontense (68th minute substitution) beat Aston Villa 2-1 at Molino while Leeds and Southampton drew 1-1 at Eland Road remained , with Ward-Prouz scoring 13 Premier League goals from a direct foul in this manner and sitting second on the list behind only David Beckham (18).
