The Bournemouth vs Luton match on matchday 17 of the Premier League was finally abandoned after visiting player Tom Lockyer collapsed in the 60th minute of the game.

Luton said in a statement that the footballer had suffered a heart attack but was conscious when he was taken away on a stretcher.

He was then taken to hospital where he is in a stable condition and is undergoing further tests.

The Luton update:

“Our medical staff have confirmed that our captain suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch but was conscious when he was carried away on a stretcher.”

He received further care on site, for which we would like to once again thank the medical teams on both sides.

Tom was taken to hospital where we can reassure fans that his condition is stable and he is currently undergoing further tests with his family by his side.

We would like to thank you all for your support and messages for Tom.
