The ROC issued a statement regarding the departure of Anastasia Davydova from Russia

The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) announced that it had not received information from the five-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Anastasia Davydova about her departure from Russia and her resignation of the organization’s secretary general.

Earlier, Match TV reported that Davydova had left Russia and had no plans to return to the country. The 39-year-old ex-athlete led the Olympic Synchronized Swimming Center.

– The Russian Olympic Committee currently does not have information from the 5-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Anastasia Davydova that she or one of her family members left the territory of our country and does not plan to return to Russia.

There have been no formal resignations from the Secretary General to the ROC.

The Russian Olympic Committee is carrying out planned work, including preparations for the reporting and election Olympic Assembly. A date has been set, and the process of nominating candidates for leadership positions has begun. Now an important role is played by a high level of qualifications and specialized training, serious experience in the Olympic movement and the sports industry.

The ROC apparatus is working in an enhanced mode, the operational efficiency of the organization does not depend on the personal situation of the Secretary General.

If necessary, relevant decisions will be made in accordance with the charter of the Russian Olympic Committee and solely on the basis of verified data, the statement on the ROC website says.

Davydova was elected General Secretary of the ROC in May 2014.

Two-time Olympic biathlon champion Svetlana Ishmuratova told Match TV that the appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the exclusion of Russian biathletes from international competitions is unlikely to be satisfied, but we must hope for the best.

Earlier, the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee Mikhail Degtyarev said that the Russian side would appeal to CAS on December 10 due to the removal of biathletes from international competitions.

Russians have not been allowed to compete under the auspices of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) since 2022.
