BEIJING, China — Ottawa’s Ivanie Blondin has decided to skip the 5,000-meter long track speed skating event scheduled for Thursday at the Beijing Olympics.
This decision was made following consultation between Blondin, her coach and the support staff in order to allow the skater to concentrate on the team pursuit and the mass start event.
Blondin, 31, is competing in her third Olympics and was entered in four events in Beijing. She ranked 14th on Saturday in the 3,000 meters, a distance where her teammate Isabelle Weidemann won the bronze medal.
His next event, the team pursuit, will be presented on February 15.
