The task does not look easy, but the podium is still possible for snowboarders Élizabeth Hosking and Brooke D’Hondt, Thursday, at the Beijing Olympics.

Hosking and D’Hondt will be among the 12 participants in the final of the halfpipe event at the Genting Snow Park.

The final, which will include three runs, will be presented at 8:30 p.m. Quebec time.

A 20-year-old from Longueuil, Hosking finished the qualifying phase with the ninth best score, in this event generally dominated by American Chloe Kim.

Her young compatriot D’Hondt, only 16 years old, followed her closely, with the 10th score during the first phase of the competition.

Hosking and D’Hondt will be third and fourth to run, respectively.

The qualifiers, held on Wednesday, eliminated ten competitors.
