Skier Ustyugov about the upcoming season: “The goals are clear – the medals of the Russian Championship”
Olympic champion, two-time world champion in cross-country skiing Sergei Ustyugov named the medals of the Russian championship as his goals for the season and said that he had completely resigned himself to the lack of international starts.
Did the summer go well at all?
– No time wasted. I trained well, put my body in order and, judging by the interval work, I am in good shape. You just need to gain competitive experience, because I missed the end of last season. There is a lot of interesting things ahead, I look forward to winter. No matter how some people accuse me of being lazy. For me, this season, on the contrary, is a challenge. It’s interesting to see what happens. The goals are clear – the medals of the Russian championship.
– Do not believe in international competitions at all?
“I have completely come to terms with this,” Ustyugov told Sport24.
30-year-old Ustyugov is an Olympic champion in the 4 × 10 km relay (2022), two-time world champion in 2017, winner of the Tour de Ski multi-day race in the 2016/2017 season, three-time world champion among youth, five-time world champion among juniors.
The International Ski Federation (FIS) in February suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions due to events in Ukraine, the decision was indefinite while it is in force and should be considered by the FIS Council on October 22.

French biathlete Lou Jeanmonnot won the pursuit race at the third stage of the World Cup in Annecy (France).
The athlete, who started from the second position, covered the 10 km distance in 27 minutes 58.8 seconds, making one mistake at the shooting range.
The silver medal was won by the representative of Finland, Suvi Minkkinen (lag – 30.2 seconds, 0 misses), who climbed to the podium from sixth place at the start. Italian Dorothea Wierer repeated the result of the sprint and finished third (+32.7; 1 miss).
The winner of the sprint race, Hanna Oeberg, made four shooting errors and finished the pursuit seventh (+47.2).
Later on Saturday, the men’s pursuit race will take place at the Annecy World Cup.

Biathlete Kristina Reztsova said on Match TV that skier Alexander Bolshunov does not greet her, despite the fact that they competed together at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.
