The Canadian duo competing in the classic team sprint in cross-country skiing could not win their ticket to the final on Wednesday at the Beijing Olympics.

Only the first four teams in each semi-final advanced, in addition to the two fastest times overall.

Katherine Stewart-Jones and Dahria Beatty finished sixth in the first wave and therefore hoped to qualify on their time, but the second wave was faster so it was not enough to beat France and Poland who beat them by about 25 seconds.

The Russian Olympic Committee offered the best performance, just under 2 seconds ahead of Germany.

The final will take place at 4:15 a.m.
