No less than 36 skiers had either not started or finished the first run, including Canadian Trevor Philp, who was therefore unable to continue his course. The other Maple Leaf representative Erik Read finished 24th overall.
Since the beginning of winter, the six World Cup events have crowned six different winners, leaving no margin of safety: even the best had to take all the risks to claim a podium.
