ZHANGJIAKOU, China – China’s Qi Guangpu won the Olympic title in freestyle jumping on his fourth attempt Thursday in Zhangjiakou.
In the final, Qi, 31, beat with his “Back Double Full-Full-Double Full” sequence, credited with a score of 129 points, the Ukrainian Oleksandr Abramenko (116.50 pts), reigning Olympic champion, and the Russian under a neutral flag Ilia Burov (114.93 pts).
Qi was playing his fourth Olympics in Beijing after 2010 (7th), 2014 (4th) and 2018 (7th). He had already won a medal at the 2022 Olympics, silver in the mixed team event.
This is the thirteenth medal for China, the seventh in gold, which is already its best record at the Winter Olympics.
