The Beijing Olympics’ 50km cross-country skiing event may have been cut to 30km due to weather conditions, but that hasn’t stopped Finland’s Remi Lindholm from resorting to a heat pack for relief his penis which was “a bit frozen”.

Lindhol covered the distance in around an hour 16 minutes, but freezing winds compromised the integrity of his appendix, reports the British daily The Guardian. This is unfortunately the second incident of its kind for Linholm, who had experienced the same misadventure last year in Ruka in his native Finland.

“You can guess which part of the body was a bit frozen when I finished…it was one of the worst competitions I’ve been in,” Lindholm told Finnish media.

The outfit worn by cross-country skiers offers very little protection against the cold.
