Russian gymnast Anastasia Maksimova told Match TV that she would like to perform at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

– What is your life now? Are there any plans to continue your career?

– Officially, I did not announce the end of my career. I really wanted to take part in the World Championships immediately after the Olympics, but due to an injury I could not. I went to get my leg treated. And after the treatment, I already found out that we have … such an incomprehensible situation.

She asked Irina Alexandrovna for permission to take part in the training camps and master classes. In principle, now this is my main activity. Just a lot where covid restrictions were removed. I pass on experience to athletes, motivate, inspire. I come as an honored guest to the competition.

And then, to be honest, I don’t know. I am a member of the Athletes’ Commission in the Olympic Committee, we have the chairman Sofya Velikaya. And she once asked me – why, are we going to Paris-2024? I think – well, everything, I will recover and return.

– Let’s imagine that everything will develop according to the best scenario and Russia will be restored in the rights at international competitions. How long does it take to get into a ringing form and reach the level of the national team?

“How much desire you have, I can say so. After Rio 2016, I also took a break. Naturally, I later asked Irina Alexandrovna, and she said yes. It was possible to return on general terms. Discipline, everything. At first I stood, taught the exercises, then they put me in the second team, then in the first. Not that I’m such a “star” returned. Then it took two years to set the form. But in that four years, I didn’t train at all. I just wanted to feel free. Lying on the bed, watching TV, eating delicious food, going to the cinema with friends in the evenings.

Now I keep myself in shape. When I returned after 2016, to be honest, I could not even sit on the splits.

– What does Anastasia Maksimova dream about?

– About the third Olympics (laughs). Truth. Well, is it a dream? I don’t know if this can happen, but I want to.

The 30-year-old athlete is the winner of the 2016 Olympic Games in the group all-around, as well as the silver medalist of the 2020 Games.
