The helicopter piloted by biathlete Igor Malinovsky was found burnt out by Kamchatka rescuers, Governor of the region Vladimir Solodov reports on his Telegram channel.
The Robinson RA-07350 helicopter, which took off on July 16 along the route Milkovo – Valley of Geysers – Uzon Volcano Caldera, stopped communicating at the appointed time. A video of a helicopter taking to the air appeared on the social networks of a 25-year-old athlete 14 hours before reports of his disappearance.
– Kamchatka rescuers found a burned-out Robinson helicopter 13 km south of the Uzon volcano, which disappeared from communication yesterday. The helicopter with two passengers and a pilot was on a private flight, the group was not registered as tourists. Yesterday in the area of the helicopter crash site there was low cloud cover and unfavorable weather for flights. The competent authorities are conducting an investigation and will establish the reasons for the departure and the circumstances of the crash of a private helicopter,” the governor wrote.
Earlier it was reported that the Kamchatka transport prosecutor’s office is checking compliance with legislation in the field of flight safety.
In the 2021/22 season, Malinovsky did not take part. The biathlete has previously reported his passion for helicopter flights.
