Hockey player Vorobyov fined two million rubles for giving a bribe to an employee of the military enlistment office in order to evade military service

The Leninsky District Court of Ufa considered the case of the former Salavat Yulaev hockey player Mikhail Vorobyov about giving a bribe to an employee of the military commissariat in order to evade compulsory military service, finding the athlete guilty. This was written by RIA Novosti Sport.

Vorobyov was fined two million rubles. During the court session, the athlete fully admitted his guilt and announced his readiness to serve in the armed forces of the Russian Federation.

“The court finds Vorobyov guilty in the case and imposes a penalty in the form of a fine of two million rubles in favor of the state,” said Judge Artur Gimaletdinov.

Vorobyov’s defense side did not answer a question from journalists about whether she was satisfied with the court’s decision and whether she intended to appeal.

On the eve of the court sentenced hockey player Anvar Suleymanov to five years of imprisonment with probation for four years in the case of “Attempt to give a bribe.” The court concluded that the athlete was trying to pay off military service for a monetary reward to an employee of the military registration and enlistment office.
