Olympic champion, the famous Czech goalkeeper Dominik Hasek said that he was trying to help the Czech Foreign Ministry in preventing Russian players from participating in the matches of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Two NHL regular season games between Nashville and San Jose will take place on October 7 and 8 in Prague. On September 22, the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it would send a letter to the leadership of the NHL stating that it was inadmissible to issue visas to Russian players to enter the country. Yakov Trenin, Yaroslav Askarov, Yegor Afanasiev play for Nashville, and Alexander Barabanov, Evgeny Svechnikov, Timur Ibragimov, Artemy Knyazev and Daniil Gushchin play in the San Jose system.
– The Czech Foreign Ministry does not want Russian players to take part in NHL matches in Prague. The NHL has a few days left to make a decision and announce it. The leadership of the league does not want to respect the position of our Foreign Ministry. It will be interesting to see what their values are,” Hasek wrote in in social networks.
