Polish hockey club refused the services of Russians and Belarusians
The leadership of the Polish “Energia” from Torun refused the services of Russian and Belarusian hockey players.
For Torun, this is a radical decision because the Russian-speaking legionnaires have been playing a big role in the team for the past three seasons.
In the 2021/2022 championship, defenders Dmitry Kozlov, Daniil Kurashov, Alexander Rodionov, Yegor Shkodenko and Alexander Shkrabov (Belarus) played for Energia, as well as forwards Robert Korchekha, Yegor Rozhkov, Mikhail Shabanov and Nikolai Syty (Russia).
“At the current situation we have no choice. It would be a manifestation of a kind of selfishness. We have to look more broadly at the realities in which the club operates. Besides the moral aspect, there is also an element in which the club is perceived by sponsors and fans. So today is the decision. Energia President Bogdan Rozvadovsky said, “His presence in the team is in doubt. We are recruiting players that do not wake up and cause additional problems,” he said.

A leaders’ match took place as part of the Ukrainian Hockey Championship – the current champion Kremenchuk hosted Sokol as part of the festive meeting at Christmas.
The match ended with Kremenchuk scoring 4:1, and the match was abandoned twice due to air raids.
At the same time, the home team lost 0:1, but they scored two goals on the power play in the second period and eventually hit an empty net. Vitaly Lyalka scored a double goal.
While Sokol finishes 2025 as the leader, Kremenchuk is one point behind and has a game in hand.

Traditionally, one of the most interesting hockey tournaments of the year begins – the U-20 World Junior Championship in the elite league. The tournament will take place in the USA from December 26 to January 5.
The American team will defend the title it won in Canada a year ago. However, Maple will try to heal herself after the failure.
The teams are divided into two groups of 5 teams, the top 4 will advance to the play-offs and the last two will compete for survival among the elite.
