Plyushchev named the KHL club that will be the most interesting to follow next season

Former head coach of the Russian national hockey team Vladimir Plyushchev said that he would be interested in following Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the next season of the FONBET KHL Championship.

— I wouldn’t say that any club stands out for me in terms of interest before the start of the new season. Now everything is connected with transitions and the transfer market. One gets the feeling that the clubs are racing each other to see who will invite more, who will free up more roster spots.

In my understanding, a club that can show something and claim something is a stable club, this is a team in which the core remains unchanged for at least several seasons. The basis for the club’s subsequent performances should be built on it. And when a team regularly changes its composition, it is very difficult to talk about expectations from the results of this team and from the work of the coaching staff, because such changes indicate that the specialists themselves often do not understand what they are building and how they should solve certain problems .

If there is no such stability, then we will simply have a team of touring players who play one way today, and tomorrow it will be completely different. In such teams, the traditions of the club and its culture are not respected. And it’s very difficult to expect anything from such touring performers.

But if you still choose some of the most interesting teams before the next season, then I would say that it will definitely be interesting to watch Metallurg. Let’s see what the processes that are currently taking place at Magnitogorsk will lead to,” Legalbet quotes Plyushchev.

Last season, Metallurg won the final series with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl with a score of 4–0 and became a three-time winner of the Gagarin Cup. Previously, the Magnitogorsk club won in the 2013/14 and 2015/16 seasons. In terms of the number of trophies, Metallurg is equal to Ak Bars (2009, 2010, 2018) and CSKA (2019, 2022, 2023).
