“Grisha, we are with you!” The Russian hockey player was in intensive care after a collision on ice
The captain of Salavat Yulaev was not afraid of a hard collision and suffered.
A terrible incident occurred in the KHL! In the last match between the Vanguard and Salavat Yulaev (2: 4), held on January 29 in Omsk, the captain of the Ufa team Grigory Panin received severe injury, after which he was urgently taken to intensive care.
What happened
Throughout the game, Panin, as always, was in the thick of events. However, in one of the episodes of the first period, he harshly collided with the attacking of the Vanguard Giovanni Fior. At first glance, the moment could seem like an ordinary game episode, but the consequences were much more serious. Doctors diagnosed Panin with a fracture of ribs, which required immediate hospitalization.
– Gregory Panin has a broken rib. He is now in intensive care in the hospital. I hope everything is fine with him. He knew that there would be a hard blow, but showed character and went there (into the joint). As we watched at the video, he wanted to hit with his chest, and the opponent hit the area of the ribs. We have the right captain, he went to where it hurts. The power technique gave confidence to the team. Panin under the control of specialists. He will return not with the team, he will spend the night here, – Viktor Kozlov, head coach of Salavat Yulaev, quotes.
In the match against the Vanguard, Panin spent only three shifts on the ice, playing in total a little more than two minutes. This season, the defender of Salavat Yulaev took part in 48 matches, gaining 7 (2+5) points.
The reaction of the team and fans
The teammates did not stand aside and publicly supported their captain. In social networks, Salavat hockey players recorded a video from an airplane on the way to Ufa in support of their player with the words: “Grisha, we are with you!”
– We learned about Panin’s injury in the locker room, during the game I did not even notice any changes. Grisha is a key player of our team and our captain, so we wish him a speedy recovery, ”Danil Alalykin quotes the striker of Salavat Yulaev.
At the moment, Grigory Panin remains under the supervision of doctors. It is too early to talk about the timing of its restoration, but one thing is clear: he will miss a few closest matches. The team will be forced to fight without its captain. In the meantime – words of support, faith in the best and hope for a speedy recovery of Panin. Gregory, hold on! Hockey is waiting for your return.
