“Complete lawlessness. Russian hockey has lost influence on the world arena ” – Fetisov on the admission of the French national team at OI -2026

Two -time hockey Olympic champion Vyacheslav Fetisov said “Match TV” that the France team for the 2026 Olympic Games is not surprised instead of the Russian team.

On Monday, the France Hockey press service reported that the French team will perform at the 2026 Olympics in Italy instead of the Russian national team.

“Nothing surprises me.” For a long time he said that this is a complete chaos. We were fed with expectations.

– France is not the level of the Olympics?

– What does the level or not the level of the Olympics have to do with it? Russian hockey has lost influence on the world arena. There is nothing surprising for me. Of course, sadly, insulting for the guys who hoped to the end. We have what we have, ”said Fetisov“ Match TV ”.

The International Hockey Federation (IIHF) announced the names of six players in the preliminary composition of the French national team for games.

The national teams of Russia and Belarus have been removed from participation in tournaments under the auspices of IIHF since 2022. At the end of May, the IOC press service, commenting on the situation with the assumption of the Russian team to the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy, told Match TV that the recommendation for Russian teams remains in force, IIHF decided to follow it. The IOC recommends that international federations do not allow Russians to team competitions.

The Olympics -2026 will be held from 6 to 22 February.
