Washington lost to Carolina in the NHL match, Ovechkin and Nikishin scored points

The Washington Capitals hockey players lost to the Carolina Hurricanes in a home match of the NHL regular season.
The meeting in Washington ended with a score of 3:2 in favor of the guests; the winners were determined by a shootout. In regulation time, Connor McMichael and Nic Dowd scored for Washington, while Nikolaj Ehlers and Logan Stankoven scored for Carolina.
In the shootout, Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis scored the winning try.
Russian Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin provided an assist, scoring his 30th point (14+16) this season. Ovechkin became the 11th player in NHL history to score 1,800 points (988+812) in his entire NHL career, including playoffs.
Carolina defender Alexander Nikishin also scored an assist. This is the Russian’s 10th point (3+7) in the championship.
Carolina and Washington each have 40 points and are in first and second place in the Eastern Conference.
