Alpha Tauri has announced Tsunoda for 2023

Yuki Tsunoda has renewed his contract with Alpha Tauri for the new Formula 1 season, the Japanese’s third season in the sport, the Faenza team officially announced.

His trademark Yuki Tsunoda suggests Pierre Gasly is heading to Alpine for 2023 as it has emerged that Red Bull (mother Alpha Tauri) Academy leader Helmut Marko has already met Nick de Vries and signed the contract in place of the young Dutchman for one The new season has taken its place at Alpha Tauri.

Gasli is still under contract with the Faenza team for the new year but there is clear information that Alpine and Red Bull have reached an agreement to terminate the contract – with appropriate compensation – so Gasli can become the driver to replace Fernando Alonso will be the French team next year.

Back to Tsunoda, Red Bull and Alpha Tauri’s confidence in his speed – with the new contract – didn’t seem to have been shaken. The young Japanese has shown quite competitive performances at times this year and what is yet to be found is consistency in his performance.

Additionally, it’s possible that Red Bull’s resumption of negotiations with Honda played a role in his staying with AT after the Austrian company’s talks with Porsche for a possible partnership in 2026 finally collapsed.

Franz Tost, Director of Alpha Tauri, said: “From what we’ve seen since he joined our team last year, Yuki is a very talented rider and has improved a lot this year.

The speed he has shown lately is a clear testament to his rapid development and learning and shows that he deserves a place in the F1 And I expect some very strong results from him in the last six races of 2022.”
