Fernando Alonso, the driver who replaced Michael Schumacher in 2005, paid tribute to “Sumi” just days before the 10th anniversary of the accident that left the legendary seven-time world champion with long-term injuries.

On December 28th, the day of this sad anniversary of the accident in the French Alps, ARD will present a documentary series called “Being Michael Schumacher”, which tells the entire racing journey of Michael Schumacher.

Meanwhile, more and more Formula 1 stars are expressing their views on the great German driver – and one of them was Fernando Alonso, “Sumi’s” heir to the throne, who broke his dominance over Ferrari in the sport with Renault F1 by winning the 2005 championship.

I think I lost more than I gained compared to him.” the two-time Spanish Formula 1 champion told The Independent newspaper. He is a great driver who was an inspiration to all of us: all of us who raced in karting and in the smaller classes when he dominated the main stage Formula 1″.

Alonso, 42, went on to say that many of “Sumi’s” virtues had forever changed Formula 1 for the better: “Achanged the approach to racing. He had his own way of preparing and managing games. The determination and work ethic he dedicated to each three-day race also had a profound impact on the mechanics. Many things in sport have changed for the better thanks to Michael.”concluded the Spaniard.

In the same interview there is also a new statement from Lewis Hamilton about Schumacher, in which the Brit – the only one with whom Schumacher shares the record of seven championships – referred to “Sumi” as “Sumi”. “True and absolute competitor who won the race when Ayrton died [Σένα] and then won everything.”

Michael Schumacher’s last victory came at the 2006 Chinese Grand Prix. He retired from the sport at the end of the year, but in 2010 he returned to Mercedes for three seasons with the “Silver Arrows” before finally retiring at the end of 2012 gives him his place in Hamilton.
