Sainz makes it clear what his priorities are ahead of F1 GPs in Madrid and Barcelona
future of F1 Spanish GP In recent months, it has become very similar to the Real Madrid vs. Barcelona Classic that we are accustomed to in the world of football. The two cities hope to be on the calendar from 2027, with Barcelona renewing its current contract with the circuit and Madrid opening a new route at Ifema Valdebebas. Both present interesting projects to acquire the desired space that may remain after Gran Circo’s contract with the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya ends in 2026.
As MD stated a few months ago, Madrid’s candidacy is more than well established and things will have to change significantly if the Spanish capital is to avoid hosting an urban GP on the streets of IFEMA . It’s no secret that capital coming from private sources works in F1’s favor and that the world is increasingly looking to hold races in the heart of cities where it’s easier to organize events and attract VIPs. be.
Asked about this at a promotional event for Estrella Galícia 0,0, Carlos Sainz was very clear about respect. “My priority is to have a Grand Prix in Spain. As a Spanish driver, I am not picky between Madrid and Barcelona. My wish and real hope is that this event is an iconic event. Our goal is to become an example for other European countries and set a trend like in Mexico and Singapore. As someone from Madrid, it’s obvious that I’m happy to be able to race here.”he explained.
There are some cards on the table and you can see what the outcome will be. Will the GP be held in Madrid, will it continue in Barcelona as it has been held uninterrupted since 1991, will it alternate between the two, or will both be on the calendar? Logically there are options with higher numbers, but what seems certain is that Spain will continue to feature on the calendar. So Mr. Sainz can rest assured. His priorities seem to be on track.

The Ukrainian driver became the fastest at the start of the first stage of Formula 4 in 2026.
Today, January 17, the first stage of the prestigious Formula 4 Middle East championship started, in which Ukrainian Alexander Bondarev participated.
As with most race series, there are training sessions leading up to major events (qualifying and the race itself). They don’t always accurately reflect the true balance of power, but they allow you to establish a general trend at the beginning of the scene.
Training at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi was a good start for Alexander. The Ukrainian immediately set the pace and set the fastest time of the session.
Moreover, this has become a pattern, not an exception. Bondarev also spent among the leaders in pre-season testing, which ended a few days ago, and also led training on Friday.
Now all that remains is to consolidate the momentum in decisive sessions that bring results in the form of positions and points. Qualifications for the first stage will take place on Saturday at 11:10 and 11:20 Kiev time.

Liverpool goalkeeper handed harsh suspension for racism
Liverpool goalkeeper, German Rafaela Borggrafe, has been suspended for six games for using a racial slur towards a team-mate.
The incident occurred during the team’s pre-season training and Liverpool have reported it to the FA for investigation.
The player has already played five games under suspension, the last of which will be this weekend’s FA Cup match against London Bees.
Liverpool manager Gareth Taylor said the club had taken the “appropriate” action and supported the FA’s decision.
“It’s been a long process and it’s been frustrating for everyone, especially Rafaela. I’m glad the process is complete and we know more about what happened. We can now turn the page,” he added. Borggrafe joined from Freiburg this summer and has made three appearances for England.
