Bezzecchi on Mandalika’s grave mistake in declaration of intent on Phillip Island

Pol Espargaro goes straight to Q2

KTM is also great. Pol had not participated in MotoGP for two months, but he managed to advance directly to Q2 with the eighth best time of the day.

man of the day

Time when session ends

Aldeguer cannot escape, Acosta barely escapes.

The two Murcians were fighting for a spot in Q2, but in the end it was the KTM rider who rounded out the top ten behind Bagnaia. Aldegel is close to breaking through with 5/5000 remaining.

0′ – Bezzecchi just got even better!

Amazing level of Aprilia. Shorten it by a few thousandths more and you’re left with a staggering 1:26.492. Raul Fernandes has had a great run and is the closest Italian to 291/1000. Bezzecchi’s end of the year is truly amazing. Indonesia’s mistakes tarnish him, but he is the fittest driver today

2 minutes – Bagnaia improves and moves into the top 10

Although he was eliminated in Q2, Bagnaia was able to set his eighth time of the session, 0.5 seconds behind Bezzecchi and 2 tenths behind second place. Not bad considering Pekko’s prospects.

5 minutes – Pirro’s fall

Marquez’s replacement crashed at Turn 4, the same as Pedro Acosta a short time earlier. So it’s normal for him not to make it to Q2.

Bezzecchi’s record

8 minutes – Alex Marquez shows up and Bagnaia are in trouble.

Gresini set the third fastest time of the day, 394,000ths behind Bezzecchi’s time. He waited longer than anyone else to perform a time attack.
Meanwhile, Di Giannantonio finished second, more than three tenths ahead of his compatriot, while Bagnaia, who had a number of issues, missed out on qualifying for Q2 by more than a second with seven minutes remaining.

10 minutes – Quartararo, the closest person

The Frenchman is only the second athlete to break the 1 minute 27 second barrier, but he is 346 milliseconds slower than Bezzecchi’s time, which is significantly better. The current best Spanish player is Rins, followed by Fernandes, Acosta and Aldeguer.

12 minutes – Animalada by Bezzecchi

The Italian will need to complete two long laps to throw Marc Marquez in Indonesia, but given his great pace, the possibility of winning the race cannot be ruled out. He just clocked a time of 1:26.580 while the rest of the competitors have yet to break 1:27. His pace at Aprilia is very ferocious

14 minutes – Bezzecchi record!

Great time from Aprilia. Phillip Island has never been photographed this early. Marco clocked 1:27.099, shaving two-tenths off Jorge Martin’s 2024 pole time. Rins also took the wheel and recorded a great time, taking second place with a difference of two-tenths of a second.

20′ – First new tires arrive

Pirro, Bagnaia’s teammate at Ducati this weekend, was one of the first to wear the new rubber in order to finish in the top 10 fastest

24 min – Rins are back in the lead.

The Catalan Yamaha rider is currently in third place in the training session, 83,000ths behind DiGiannantonio’s time, after having one of the best weekends of the year in Mandalica. Rins is slowly regaining his confidence.

time in the middle of the session

33 min – Tardozzi talks about Marc Marquez

“We have already won the title, so we have to move forward little by little. It is our hope to see it in the final race in Valencia, but we should not rush.”

36 minutes – Acosta falls to the ground.

The first fall of the session. The Murcian crashed in Turn 4 but fortunately suffered no physical consequences.

42 min – Pecco Bagnaia improves on second bike

The Italian made angry gestures during the first time-taking and had moved into the box on the first lap. Now, on the second bike things are much better and he is in 5th place, 3 tenths behind DiGiannantonio.

50 minutes – better time than this morning

Bezzecchi led the session with a time of 1:27.5, eight-tenths faster than Miller’s time this morning. The tracks are further rubberized

Start your session!

I was able to find a time that would put me in the top 10 before 60 minutes, which would allow me to advance directly to Q2.

Jack Miller, this morning’s reference

The local idol set the fastest time in the first practice session for the Australian Grand Prix, followed by Alex Marquez and Pedro Acosta.
Fermin Aldeguer, who won in Indonesia, finished in fourth place. Pecco Bagnaia had a less bad start than Mandalika, finishing seventh, less than three tenths off his best time.

3 important absences

Up to three world champions will be unable to compete at the Australian Grand Prix due to injury. Most importantly, new champion Marc Marquez was injured in Indonesia.
Maverick Vinales and Jorge Martín, who announced that he would not be going to Malaysia as expected, will also not be able to participate as they are recovering at home from serious injuries.

good morning!

Everything is ready for the start of MotoGP practice. This session will determine which riders will pass Q1 and who will advance directly to Q2. 60 minutes before Phillip Island

VIDEO. The F1 team failed to complete three laps. The rookie’s car had an accident

Arvid Lindblad had a bad start to his Formula 1 career when he turned his new Racing Bulls VCARB03 car into a gravel trap during a race at the Imola circuit.

Earlier, Liam Lawson had the honor of completing the first lap of Red Bull Ford’s new engine in the wet conditions of the circuit, located just 15 km from the team’s Faenza base. As part of the demo day, which allowed a maximum distance of 15 kilometers (in this case three laps of the Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit), Lawson completed the installation lap without any problems.

The race was short-lived when British newcomer Lindblad took the wheel in the afternoon; He spun at the Variante Villeneuve chicane in the wet (turns 5-6) and got stuck in the gravel. A video on social media X showed VCARB03 being driven back to the pits by a tow truck. It was reported that the cause of the take-off was not pilot error, but the blocking of the rear brakes.

Lawson and Lindblad will return to the Imola circuit tomorrow (Wednesday) for the 200km shoot.

PHOTOGRAPH. New Audi Formula 1 team presents first appearance

Audi has unveiled its first livery, which will make its debut in Formula 1 in the 2026 season.

The driver line-up has not changed since 2025, when the team spent its last season under the Sauber name: Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto will race for the team for the second season in a row.

The German team was the first to test the car on a filming day in Barcelona earlier this month and is preparing for testing to begin on January 23.

The team used the colors they had previously promised in their initial designs. The front of the car will be chrome gray and the rear will be red and black.

Previously, Red Bull, Racing Bulls and Haas have presented their own liveries.

PHOTOGRAPH. Honda unveils first engine since returning to F1

Aston Martin and Honda officially launched their Formula 1 factory partnership at an event in Tokyo where the Japanese manufacturer’s new power unit, the RA626H, was unveiled.

Honda continued to support Red Bull technically after officially leaving Formula 1 in 2021, and will fully return in 2026 as Aston Martin’s official partner in the new era of the championship, where the electric motor and internal combustion engine share energy 50/50. This makes Aston Martin an official works team; whereas before the team was just a client team.

Preparations for the season were carried out with the participation of Aston Martin’s key partners and under the supervision of the team’s chief strategist Andy Cowell. The RA626H is designed to meet new regulatory requirements by providing maximum reliability and performance in the new environment.
