PARIS – Australian Ashley Barty, winner of her first Australian Open on Saturday, established herself as the No. 1 in the world in the WTA rankings published on Monday, including the American Danielle Collins, her victim in the final, who joined the top 10.
Barty, who already has a title at Roland Garros in 2019 and at Wimbledon in 2020, increased her lead over her runner-up, Belarus, Arina Sampalenka, to 2,633 points.
The unfortunate finalist in Melbourne, the American Danielle Collins won 20 places and occupies the 28th best ranking of her career, 10th in the world.
Poland’s Iga Swiatek, who left Collins in the semifinals, climbed five places and regained its best ranking, in 4th place.
This is the case of the Czech Barbora Krejcikova, who wins a place in the 3rd place in the world, which already arrived in November.
Spain’s Garbine Muguruza, who was eliminated in the second round of the Australian Open, lost four places and dropped to 7th place.
Britain’s Emma Raducanu was crowned at the last United States Open but was eliminated in the second round for her first appearance in Melbourne, however she climbed five places and in 19 occupies the best ranking of her career, 13th in the world.
Russia’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, 14th, lost three places while Ukraine’s Elena Svitolina, 15th, won two.
In 16th place, the American Jessica Pegula also reached the best ranking of her career thanks to a progress of five steps.
Cori Gauff’s compatriot dropped one place to 17th, just seven places behind former world No. 1 Belarus’ Victoria Azarenka.
Swiss Belida Bencic reappears at top 20in 19th place, up three places.
