“Pathetic loser!” Kirios freaked out after losing to Khachanov and angered the fans
Australian tennis player Nick Kirios after losing to Russian Karen Khachanov in the quarterfinals of the US Open in a fit of anger broke the rackets on the court.
The meeting was held on Wednesday and ended with the score 7:5, 4:6, 7:5, 6:7 (3:7), 6:4. Kyrios showed emotion on the court by smashing rackets. A video of the incident, taken from the podium, was published by the PropSwap Twitter channel. In the comments under the video, fans criticized the behavior of the Australian:
What a pathetic loser! He needs to seek help from psychologists,” wrote one of the fans.
“No respect for your own sport. I don’t understand why he hasn’t been disqualified yet, ”said another tennis fan.
“Keep supporting this clown. I hope he retires before he messes with tennis values with the permission of the referees. Against Daniil (Medvedev) he threw two rackets and received no warnings, today he did the same once. I hope he gets a big fine,” concluded the third.
Khachanov, 26, reached the semi-finals of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in his career. His next opponent at the US Open will be the Norwegian Kasper Ruud.

Ukraine’s first racket Elina Svitolina (WTA 14) became the “Opening Week” participant of the Australian Open 2026.
On January 14, 2026, the Ukrainian will play an exhibition match against Amanda Anisimova (USA, WTA 4) at the tournament’s main stadium, Rod Laver Arena.
The meeting will be held in the format of two standard sets as the deciding game and a super tiebreak up to 10 points.
There will also be four more exhibition matches: Elena Rybakina – Zheng Qingwen, Alexander Zverev – Lorenzo Musetti, Carlos Alcaraz – Alex de Minaur, Jannik Sinner – Felix Auger-Aliassime.
