Kyrgios blurted out and smashed his racquets after being ruled out by Khachanov
Karen Khachanov scored a historic win over Nick Kyrgios as he prevailed 3-2 sets 7-5 4-6 7-5 6-7(3) 6-4 to advance to the US Open semifinals reach. The Australian tennis player burst into his racket.
After a horrific struggle that lasted into the early hours of Wednesday morning, Mr Karen Khachanov drove to a 5-set win over Nick Kyrgios to reach his first career Grand Slam semifinal.
The out-of-form Russian, who has fallen to No. 31 in the world rankings, put on a great performance and managed to keep his cool as Kyrgios sent the quarterfinals into a fifth set to win 7-5, 4-6. 7-5, 6-7(3), 6-4 of his opponent, after 3 hours and 39 minutes of match at Arthur Ashe and continues his course at the US Open.
Nick Kyrgios lost his temper again after the final of the match when he broke two of his racquets after shaking hands with the referee and became the negative protagonist again.
One of the fittest tennis players in recent months, Kyrgios celebrated his second consecutive win against Daniil Medvedev and looked poised for the next big step in his career after his recent Wimbledon final appearance. However, he was particularly ineffective on his break chances (2/9) and his returns weren’t on the best day.

Served dominated the opening two sets of Khachanov’s matchup with Kyrgios, with little rallies and little crowd participation. However, from the 3rd set the rallies increased and the spectators started creating a different situation in the stands as Kyrgios shook them up as he sent the match into the 5th set.
Khachanov’s quick break (1-0) gave him a clear lead in the 5th set and despite Kyrgios’ attempt to regain the break (0/2 break points), he achieved the coveted win and American Open ‘4’ best.
Khachanov finished the match with 63 winners, including 30 aces, while having half as many errors as Kyrgios (31 vs. 58), with the Australian having 75 winners (31 aces) in total.

20-year-old American tennis player Lerner Tien (ATP 28) Became the winner of the ATP 2025 Junior Final Tournament.
The Americans were defeated in the final of the competition held on indoor courts in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). Alexander Blox (Belgium, ATP 116) 1 hour 1 minute.

Tien played in the Next Generation finals for the second time. He lost to João Fonseca in the decisive match in 2024.
Lerner suffered one defeat, losing to Rafael Hodar in the first round of the group stage in Jeddah. He then defeated Blox as well as Martin Landaluse, Nikolay Budkov Kjaer and Nishesh Basavareddy.
Tien becomes the second Youth Finals champion after Brandon Nakashima – Nakashima won the Next Gen award in 2022.
Lerner Thien received $502,250 in prize money for his victory at the Next Gen ATP Finals 2025.
