Tsitsipas premieres with Fokina in Rotterdam
The first obstacle of Stefanos Tsitsipas in the 500m of Rotterdam is the Spaniard Davidovic – Fokina, No. 47 in the world. The Greek tennis player is No. 1 on the board but he has a demanding job to reach the end of the stretch.
Stefanos Tsitsipas (No. 4) will start his duties next week in the 500v500 tournament in Rotterdam against Alejandro Davidovic – Fokina (No. 47).
The draw, which took place four hours late on Friday night, saw the Greek tennis player seeded No. 1 on the board and will make his debut against the 22-year-old Spaniard, whom he has faced before (Monte Carlo Masters 2021 Quarterfinals) .
If he overcomes Fokina’s obstacle, Tsitsipas will play in the 2nd round with one of George Lloyd Harris (No. 34) or Ilia Ivaska (No. 48). A possible quarterfinal opponent for Stefanos is also No. 8 on the board, Nikoloz Basilasvili (No. 21).
If he is in the semifinals, Stefanos will probably meet one of Hubert Hurkats (No. 4 on the board) and Denis Sapovalov (No. 5 on the board).
As for the other part of the board, Andrei Rublev is in 2nd place and will make his debut against a tennis player coming out of qualifiers. In the second round, he plays with one of Sungu Kwon (No.55) or Arthur Riedernech (No.60).
His compatriot and No. 7 on the board, Aslan Karachev, finds the Russian in the “8”, while the defending champion is crossed with No. 3 on the board, Felix Ozer – Aliasim, in the semifinals.
Outstanding are the two very interesting 1st round derbies between Hurkats – Tsonga and Murray – Bublik.
