The fifth edition of Laver Cup is coming back to Europe and it will be extremely special: it will mean the last goodbye Roger Federerone of the greatest geniuses in the history of tennis and sports. The tournament will also feature Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic. all as part of Team Europe.

Where and when is Laver Cup 2022 being played?

The 2022 Laver Cup will take place from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 September. His place on the schedule comes after the group stage of the Davis Cup Finals and before the Asian and European tour of hard court tournaments culminating in the Paris Masters 1000 and the ATP Finals in November.

The 2022 edition will take place at The O2 Arena, the 20,000-capacity stadium in south-east London where from 2009 to 2020 the end-of-season ATP Finals were played. In 2021 the event was held at the TD Garden in Boston.

The Laver Cup is a team competition where the best tennis players in Europe are pitted against the best from the “Rest of the World” and the first team to add 13 points wins.

How do you get these points? Three singles matches and one doubles match are played each day, with the best of three sets and the final contested as a 10-point tiebreak. Wins on Friday are worth one point, Saturday two and Sunday threewhich ensures that no team can become champions before the last day.

The European team won the four editions of the Laver Cup. In 2017 they won 15-9 in Prague (Czech Republic), in 2018 they won 13-8 in Chicago (United States), in 2019 they won 13-11 in Geneva. (Switzerland) and in 2021 won 14-1 in Boston (USA).

The European team will consist of Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, the last dance of Roger Federer and Andy Murray, as well as Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Rudd. Its captain will be, as in all previous editions, Bjorn Borg.

The team from the rest of the world will also repeat their leader from previous editions, John McEnroeand has already made all of its protagonists official: Felix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz, Diego Schwartzman, Jack Sock, Frances Tiafoe (replacing John Isner) and Alex de Minaur.

For now, the organization has only confirmed the players to compete, although it has not given details on the calendar. Just like it happens in Davis Cupthese are usually set the day before.

Four representatives from Ukraine were included in the qualification list Australian Open 2026.

Yulia Starodubtseva (WTA 113), Angelina Kalinina (WTA 127), Daria Snigur (WTA 153) and Vitaly Sachko (ATP 153) will compete for the Australian Open main draws.

Svitolina will play fourth racquet match before start of Aus Open 2026

Ukraine’s first racket Elina Svitolina (WTA 14) became the “Opening Week” participant of the Australian Open 2026.

On January 14, 2026, the Ukrainian will play an exhibition match against Amanda Anisimova (USA, WTA 4) at the tournament’s main stadium, Rod Laver Arena.

The meeting will be held in the format of two standard sets as the deciding game and a super tiebreak up to 10 points.

There will also be four more exhibition matches: Elena Rybakina – Zheng Qingwen, Alexander Zverev – Lorenzo Musetti, Carlos Alcaraz – Alex de Minaur, Jannik Sinner – Felix Auger-Aliassime.

After the match between Svitolina and Anisimova, Rod Laver Arena will host the AO 1 Point Slam tournament, where tennis stars Iga Swiatek, Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff, Naomi Osaka, Daniil Medvedev, Zheng Qingwen, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Jasmine Paolini will compete against amateurs.

Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) announced the list of all award winners for the 2025 season.

World number one Arina Sabalenka was chosen as the best tennis player of the year. Hendrik Vleshouwers, coach of American Amanda Anisimova, received the best coach award.

Anisimova received the Progress of the Year award, while Victoria Mboko received the Newcomer of the Year award. Katerina Sinyakova / Taylor Townsend couple was chosen as the best duet of the season.
