(Vienna) Canadian Denis Shapovalov advanced to the second round of the Vienna Open by defeating Austrian Jurji Rodionov 6-4, 6-4.

The 19e seeded will face fourth-ranked American Taylor Fritz in the second round. Fritz defeated Shapovalov in Tokyo a few weeks ago.

Shapovalov hit eight aces against Rodionov, who had won the first duel between the two tennis players.
