(Málaga) Borna Coric defeated Roberto Bautista Agut 6-4, 7-6 (4) on Wednesday to give Croatia a 1-0 lead against Spain in the Davis Cup quarter-finals.
Coric sealed the win on his third match point, with a 12e ace.
The result was of course disappointing for the partisan crowd in Málaga.

Croatia came within one victory of a sixth Davis Cup semi-final.
“I felt really good on serve and I think that made the difference,” Coric said.
Marin Cilic, champion at Flushing Meadows in 2014, can bring his team to the semi-finals by beating Pablo Carreno Busta.
The winning nation will face Australia there.
Coric and Cilic were among the Croatians who won the country’s second Davis Cup title, in 2018.
Spain are in the hunt for a seventh Davis Cup trophy.
The other quarter-finals will take place on Thursday: Canada will play against Germany, while the United States will face Italy.
The semi-finals will be presented on Friday and Saturday, with a view to a summit meeting on Sunday.
