(Málaga) Marin Cilic came from behind to win a marathon match lasting more than three hours against Pablo Carreno Busta on Wednesday to propel Croatia to the Davis Cup semi-finals.

Cilic trailed 4-1 in the deciding tiebreaker before eventually prevailing 5-7, 6-3, 7-6(5) in a 3 hour 13 minute duel. Croatia beat Spain 2-0.

Earlier, Borna Coric defeated Roberto Bautista Agut 6-4 and 7-6 (4).

This is the first time that Croatia have defeated Spain in the Davis Cup after three consecutive failures. She now has an appointment in the semi-finals with Australia.

Coric and Cilic were part of the Croatian roster when it won a second Davis Cup title in 2018.

Earlier in the day, Coric sealed the victory against Bautista Agut on his third match point, with a 12e ace.

The result was of course disappointing for the partisan crowd in Málaga.
