Britain’s Cameron Norrie, No. 1, advanced to the final of the ATP 250 tournament in Delray Beach, where he will face American Reilly Opelka (No. 2) who will try for a double after his triumph last week in Dallas.
Norrie, the 13th player in the world, easily made it 6-3, 6-3 to American Tommy Paul (no 4) in the first semifinal.
“I am very satisfied with my level of play, which was very complete in both sets. “Because (Paul) is really difficult and he is playing ahead, but I am happy that I overcame that in my serve”, commented the 26-year-old southpaw.
Norrie, who failed in this semifinal tournament last year, actually managed to save the two break points his opponent got, before winning at 1:16.
If he wins on Sunday, Norrie will win a third ATP Tour title after winning the Indian Wells Masters 1000 and Los Cabos, Mexico last year.
But he will have to face Reilly Opelka, who has been in excellent form for the past two weeks, even if he had to fight hard to beat Australian John Millman 7-6 (8), 6-7 (3), 7 -6 (4) in 3 hours and 3 minutes.
The American, who is looking for his fourth title on the ATP track, did his service to speak, placing mainly 16 aces.
