From December 19-24, Dubai is hosting a team exhibition tournament called World Tennis League.

Tennis players are divided into 4 teams:

Team “Hawks” (“Hawks”):

  • Paula Badosa (Spain)
  • Grigor Dimitrov (Bulgaria)
  • Novak Djokovic (Serbia)
  • Arina Sobolenko

Eagle team:

  • Nick Kyrgios (Australia)
  • Caroline Garcia (France)
  • Andreas Seppi (Italy)
  • Bianca Andreescu (Canada)

Team “Kites” (“Kites”):

  • Iga Sventek (Poland)
  • Holger Rune (Denmark)
  • Eugenie Bouchard (Canada)
  • Felix Auger-Aliassime (Canada)

Team “Hawks” (“Hawks”):

  • Alexander Zverev (Germany)
  • Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan)
  • Dominik Thiem (Austria)
  • Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova

Teams play 3 rounds – each team meets each other. After three rounds, the top two places will be determined, which will unite in the final for the right to win the tournament trophy.

The second round will be played on 21 December.

First round results:

“Kites” – “Eagles” – 35:27 (December 19)

  • Holger Rune / Eugenie Bouchard – Nick Kyrgios / Bianca Andreescu – 2:6, 3:6
  • Iga Sventek – Caroline Garcia – 6:3, 6:4
  • Felix Auger – Aliassime – Nick Kyrgios – 7:5, 6:3

Points are counted for the number of games won. In addition, +5 points were added as a bonus to the winning team – “Kites” in this match.

Hawks “Hawks” – 27:35 (December 20)

  • Grigor Dimitrov / Paula Badosa – Dominic Thiem / Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova – 5:7, 6:3, [10:4]
  • Arina Sobolenko – Elena Rybakina – 6:0, 1:6, [6:10]
  • Novak Djokovic Alexander Zverev – 3:6, 4:6

The Hawks, the winning team in this match, were awarded 6 points as a bonus.

Second round:

  • “Hawks” – “Eagles”
  • “Hawks” – “Kites”

Team standings at the end of the first round:

  1. Hawks – 35 points, 52.7% of games won
  2. “Kites” – 35 points, 52.6% of games won
  3. Eagles – 27 points, 47.4% of games won
  4. Falcons – 27 points, 47.3% of games won

Four Ukrainian women will play doubles at the Australian Open 2026

Four Ukrainian tennis players were included in the doubles entry list Australian Open 2025.

Ukrainian women will play in the doubles tournament on the courts of Melbourne: Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremskaya, Lyudmila Kichenok and Nadezhda Kichenok. Unfortunately, there will be no all-Ukrainian tandem in Australia.

Kostyuk will perform alongside Elena-Gabriela Ruse at the Aus Open, and Yastremskaya will play alongside Alisha Parks.

Lyudmila and Nadezhda will not play together at AO-2026, although they will start the season with the same duet in the Brisbane 500 meters. It was announced that Lyudmila will be with Katie Volynets, and Nadezhda will be with Makoto Ninomiya.

Australian Open 2026 will take place from January 12 to February 1. Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremskaya and Alexandra Oleynikova will represent Ukraine in singles. Yulia Starodubtseva, Angelina Kalinina, Daria Snigur and Vitaly Sachko will perform in the eliminations.

Khachanov moved up one place in the ATP rankings

Russian Karen Khachanov moved from 18th to 17th place in the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), a new version of which was published on the organization’s website.

The best among Russians remains Daniil Medvedev, located in 13th place, Andrei Rublev is 16th. There have been no changes in the top ten rankings: Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz is in the lead, Italian Jannik Sinner is second, and German representative Alexander Zverev is in third.
